History of DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX
The citybears thefamous nameof Sieurdes Ormeaux, Adam Dollard,aFrenchsoldierwas born in1635 andkilled bythe Iroquoisat LongSaultin 1660.
It isJuly 29, 1924the municipalityofDollard-des-Ormeaux became a separateentity andits first mayorwas elected.Thirtyyears later,the city wasincorporated andhas beengoverned bythe Law onCities and Towns.
Following theprocessofamalgamation of municipalities, Dollard-Des Ormeaux was annexedto the city ofMontrealon January 1,2002 andits territorywas included inoneofthe borough of Dollard-Des Ormeaux-Roxboro. On 20June 2004, thecitizensdecidedto separate fromthe present city ofMontrealto create the cityofDollard-Des Ormeaux. The cityregained itsindependent statuson 1January 2006.
