HOUSE CONDO DUPLEX TRIPLEX FOR SALE TOWN-OF-MOUNT-ROYAL

History of TOWN-OF-MOUNT-ROYAL

True model city , Town of Mount Royal was born of an initiative of the Canadian Northern Railway (now part of Canadian National) , who wanted to establish an ideal city north of Mount Royal and profitable digging the tunnel under Mount Royal .

Begun in 1910 under the leadership of Sir William Mackenzie and Sir Donald Mann, owners of Canadian National, the residential project of the City of Mont- Royal is inspired by that of Washington, DC (United States), two boulevards intersecting diagonally in a central green space. It is designed along the lines of the garden city of Ebenezer Howard, with a touch of the way City Beautiful.

The city was officially incorporated Dec. 21, 1912.

At the time, the residential development is conducted in conjunction with the construction of a tunnel under Mount Royal, which allows a direct rail link between the new town and downtown Montreal. The first passenger train engages the rails 21 October 1918.

Newly connected to downtown Montreal via a tunnel of 5.3 km, the Town of Mount Royal sees his property value increase significantly.

The city takes its real economic growth in the 50s when industries are being set up in the industrial sector. In the aftermath, the Metropolitan Expressway and HWY take over the Côte -de- Liesse, residential construction starts on a former golf course and rue Jean -Talon is extended between the paths of Côte-des- Neiges and Canora.

On 1 January 2002, the Town of Mount Royal was merged with Montreal in an Act of the Government of Québec. Then its demerger is effective January 1, 2006, but the new town of Mont -Royal has reduced powers.

On 11 April 2008, the model city designed by Todd in 1914 is designated a national historic site.

MAISON CONDO DUPLEX TRIPLEX A VENDRE QUARTIER SAINT-LEONARD

History of SAINT-LEONARD

The municipality of the parish of Saint -Léonard- de-Port -Maurice was built in April 1886. In fact, this area is detached from the parish of Sault-au-Recollect and Longue-Pointe.

For over 50 years, the rate is dominated by rural life. The community is small, stable and homogeneous. The total number of residents has changed little: the population spends a hundred people in the late nineteenth century to 326 in 1921 and 925 in 1956. The municipality of the parish of Saint-Léonard-de-Port-Maurice became the City of Saint-Léonard-de-Port-Maurice on 5 March 1915.

The community revolves around a main street, Jarry, and the Church of St. Leonard of Port Maurice (built in 1907-1908).

From the mid-1950s, things changed radically. These are the most eventful in the history of Saint-Léonard years: construction sites of family homes are increasing. The population exploding from 925 people in 1956 to 52,040 in 1971. Municipal officials must act quickly in the planning and development control.

The largest home upheaval coincides with three major events:
the arrival of large numbers of a population of new Canadians of Italian origin, which will change the social dynamics ; significant number of Italian coffees , sometimes more than four in one corner, fire etc. in these places . ;
the development of a Master Plan , which will shape the territory of Saint -Léonard and give it the appearance it has today ;
the opening of the Metropolitan Expressway will cut the territory of Saint -Léonard in two in 1966 , but also significantly improve accessibility.

Saint Leonard of Port Maurice becomes City of St. Leonard in November 1962. In 2002, the City of St. Leonard became the borough of St. Leonard in the Montreal merger.

It has been counted 162 families in 1765. After the conquest, Scottish families whose Hodge settled in the parish of St. Lawrence.

In 1825, Saint Laurent was the most populous parish on the Island of Montreal apart from those of the city of Montreal. It was then a quiet farming village, vegetables are the specialty of the place.

The arrival of the Fathers of the Holy Cross in 1847, led to the growth of the village because they are built not only their parent for Canada, but also an educational institution (1852), which continued to develop (St. Lawrence College). In 1885, Saint- Laurent in Montreal was connected by a railway line, which led to several industries to settle there.

In 1893, part of the parish gets its city status. It then had 1225 inhabitants. For several decades, there will be the city of Saint- Laurent and the parish of St. Lawrence.

During the twentieth century, the parish will be reduced by several jurisdictions, which will become the Town of Mount Royal, Cartierville, and part of Dorval. The aviation industry moved during World War II, thanks to the presence of the Cartierville Airport. In 1951 the city annexed what remained of the territory of the parish. HOUSE CONDO DUPLEX TRIPLEX FOR SALE SAINTE-GENEVIEVE

History of SAINTE-GENEVIEVE

Antoine Faucon, father of Saint-Sulpice, participates in the construction of the first church in the village’s history. To be recognized parish, the village must receive two awards: the canonical and civil. These are given to him in 1834 and 1843. Another proclamation, on June 9 1859, created the municipality of the village of Sainte- Geneviève. One hundred years later, in 1959, it received the name of Ville Sainte-Geneviève.

The town of Sainte- Geneviève included at its founding in the eighteenth century the territory of the cities of Roxboro and Dollard-Des-Ormeaux. It also included the city of Pierrefonds, herself a former autonomous city of the island of Montreal that was encompassed by the City of Montreal in 2002 when forced mergers organized by the PQ government of the day . In 1904, after several successive divisions, Town of Sainte- Geneviève was separated into two new villages: Sainte -Geneviève and Sainte- Geneviève- de- Pierrefonds.

At the heart of the conflict that led to the separation of the village was the famous lawyer Joseph-Adolphe Chauret, who in 1902 built a stately home reminding him a bit passing through the town of Pierrefonds in France, in the department of Oise. He called his thatched house the “Château Pierrefonds.” Curiously, in 1935, the two villages of Sainte- Geneviève and Sainte- Geneviève- de- Pierrefonds were again merged and again became for a time the village of Sainte-Geneviève. The name of Pierrefonds then disappeared until its reappearance in 1958, founding date of Pierrefonds.
