History of CARTIERVILLE
In the nineteenth century, three villages are implanted on the banks of the Rivière des Prairies, along the coast path Bord-de-water (now Gouin Boulevard) westward: Cartierville (the first-to-Plouffe at the origin), the Big Falls and Back River, which in 1897 became Ahuntsic.
City Cartierville was created March 15, 1906 by proclamation of the assistant attorney general of the province of Quebec. The new municipality is then designated as the village municipality of Cartierville. On 21 December 1912, the town changed its status to that city, under the Act to incorporate the town village Cartierville and the adjacent part of the parish of St. Lawrence. December 22, 1916, the Quebec Act punishes amend the charter of the city of Montreal providing for the annexation to Montreal, the city of Cartierville.
Opening Cartierville Airport, before the start of the First World War, just south -west of the neighborhood would bring a first residential development matter.
At the opening of Belmont Park in 1923 in the area of Cartierville, the city has already joined the campaign. Clean air still attracts Cartierville Hospital Sacred Heart, in search of a safe neighborhood for tuberculosis.
The housing boom of the post-war complement the urbanization of the area. We draw street to the confines of the district. In 1959, it pierces the boulevard Henri- Bourassa. The construction of the Metropolitan (1960) motorway and the Laurentian Autoroute complete integration of this area to the rest of the metropolis.
Finally, on 1 January 2006, the Cartierville area is integrated into the current Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.
